That dream was shattered in July when the Germantown man was involved in a fatal crash in Montgomery County, leaving 3-year-old Aden, wife Mavis, and other loved ones reeling in Africa.

On the evening of Saturday, July 20, Akomanyi was driving a Nissan when he was involved in a crash with a Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up that ended with his car wrapped around a tree and the truck smashing through the back of his vehicle.

Now, the community is coming to the aid of the family he loved so much, raising nearly $2,000 in the days following the father's death as they face an uncertain future.

"He leaves behind his three-year-old son, Aden, and his beloved wife, Mavis, who are in Ghana," Anna Akomeah said. "As the sole provider for his family, Isaac had come to the USA a year ago in search of a better life, but life had its own plans."

A GoFundMe set up for Akomanyi's family can be found here.

"Every donation will help his family in Ghana, especially his wife and young son, during this tough time."
